A fair commercial HVAC software comparison starts with your work.
Compare BoltWright, Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, BuildOps, ServiceTrade and ServiceBox with the same service work. This guide is published by BoltWright. It is a buying framework, not an independent ranking or a claim that one product fits every shop.
Bring one multi-unit PM visit and one reactive service call to every demo. Ask each vendor to show the same path, including a unit record, field capture, office review, outstanding repair, report output, export, and implementation plan.
What the primary sources say
Swipe the table sideways to see the sources and suggested tests.
| Product | Official source and limited fact | Test it with |
|---|---|---|
| BoltWright | Product workflow and pricing. BoltWright describes an equipment-linked field-to-office workflow with reports, findings, quotes, and invoices for review. | One PM report and one repair follow-up through ordinary navigation. |
| Jobber | Client import and QuickBooks FAQ, accessed September 2026. Jobber documents CSV-style client import and a stated one-way Jobber-to-QuickBooks Online sync for listed records. | Import/export a small client and property sample, then confirm accounting ownership. |
| Housecall Pro | HVAC service-agreement page, accessed September 2026. It describes scheduling, tracking, invoicing, and payments for HVAC service agreements. | A multi-property seasonal agreement, field completion, and exception handling. |
| ServiceTitan | Field equipment history and HVAC agreements, accessed September 2026. Its documentation describes equipment history in its field app and integrated agreement scheduling, reporting, and invoicing. | A tech opening the right unit and the office reviewing the resulting PM report. |
| BuildOps | Asset management, accessed September 2026. BuildOps says it stores unit history and specs; the page says mobile updates can be made without signal and synced later. | A no-signal capture, reconnect, unit-history review, and report output. |
| ServiceTrade | Commercial HVAC workflow and HVAC CRM, accessed September 8, 2026. ServiceTrade describes connected agreements, dispatch, quoting and invoicing. Its CRM page connects technician notes, photos and deficiencies to office follow-up. | A PM finding through office review, a repair quote, customer approval and scheduled work. |
| ServiceBox | Commercial HVAC workflow and recurring-work guide, accessed September 8, 2026. ServiceBox describes equipment-linked service history and recurring work orders. Its guide distinguishes creating a recurring work order from placing it on the calendar. | A multi-unit PM visit, one late visit and recurring work that has been created but still needs scheduling. |
Do not turn vendor pages into a ranking
Each vendor's page describes its own product. It is useful for preparing a demo, not proof that it will improve your shop. Pricing, plan eligibility, offline boundaries, integrations, regional availability, implementation effort, and export limits can change. Confirm them directly for your team before deciding.
The same test script for every demo
- Open a known site with several units and locate the correct RTU from its prior history.
- Capture work, a reading, a photo, and an outstanding repair from a phone.
- Show what happens with weak or no signal, then show the synchronized record.
- Have the office review a report, preserve the finding, and prepare the repair follow-up.
- Export the records you will need if the trial does not continue.
- Explain data migration, account setup, training, support, the system of record during transition, and the stop or recovery plan.
The best result is not a winner table. It is a decision supported by a real workflow, a readable customer document, and a migration plan the office can operate. Use the switching guide for that plan, or inspect the free service-report builder before booking a call.
