Notes and limits
- Covers ZF, ZJ and ZR Series 20 units, sizes 180–300 (15–25 tons), in the 18-character model number from York's January 2019 technical guide. The guide lists ZR in sizes 180, 240 and 300 only.
- The 3–12.5 ton ZF, ZJ, ZH and ZR units share the same letters but use their own pages; this page answers only when the model starts with one of the Series 20 sizes listed above.
- Gas heat is 2-stage only. Heat code 40 means 400 MBH input, except on the ZF180, where York lists it as 375 MBH. Electric heat for these units is field installed and does not appear in the model number.
- Filters come from the physical data tables: 2 in. throwaway (MERV 3) as standard, 2 in. pleated MERV 8 in the same sizes as an option, and 4 in. pleated MERV 13 as an option. On the ZJ, and on the ZF210 and ZF300, the 4 in. option uses different filter sizes from the 2 in. rack. Confirm against the rack in the unit.
- No serial-number date decoder: we found no York or Johnson Controls document that states the serial format for these units.
